I knew going in that a “septology” is a work made of seven parts, but I didn’t realize I was making one until after it was finished.
This newsletter goes out on the seventh of every month, and I justified the name “Septology” because of that connection with the number 7. But that was a stretch, and as it turns out, an unnecessary one. Every collection of seven issues can be its own septology, a distinct collection like a season of a TV show.
This seasonal format also creates natural stopping points for rest and change. Season 1 of Septology is complete. If it had a theme, it was practice; this was the season in which I tried something new, got a few reps under my belt, and worked out what I wanted to create. Now I’m taking the month off.
The all-new, all-different, second septology will begin June 7.
